[Kaiser-style] Apparatus for assistance [with microscopical drawing].

(Hilfsapparat.)
Description: At this time (1903), photographic illustration of biological specimens was still rare and many illustrations were still made as line drawings. This stand holds a weak magnifying lens. The apparatus comes with lenses from +10 diopters (2.5x) to -20 diopters (-5x). It appears that this apparatus was used to view the specimen while the drawing was being made.
