Marey-style tambour (drum).

(Mareyscher Tambour.)
Description: This, as No. 340, has a 5 cm (i.e., large) air capsule to drive the writer, which permits wide movement (2-14 mm distance). This can be turned around its attachment point to permit closer placement of the writing point. A micrometer screw (M) allows precise adjustment. The moveable membrane element of the air-capsule can be replaced. This device converts changes in air pressure into movements of a stylus that scribes a kymograph.
