Electromagnetic tuning fork (for direct time measurement)

(Elektromagnetische Stimmgabel (direkten Zeitschreibung))
Description: A platinum contact is made and broken by a solenoid to drive a tuning fork at 50, 100, or 250 Hz. Different from No. 170 in that the platinum contact completes the circuit by dipping into a mercury pot. A clamp has been added to make it easy to position against a kymograph. The higher arm of the fork has a bristle (as in a brush made of bristles) which traces a line on the kymograph that acts as a time base for calibration. (Expanded caption Copyright 1998, Edward J.
