Vertical inductor-coupled coils

(Vertikal-Induktorium)
Description: This device is something like the (sled) runner inductorium. In order to allow low-friction movement, the coil moves along a double column and has a balancing weight on the other side, connected by a pulley at the top of the columns. A coil at the bottom pushes the movable coil away from the primary coil set at the bottom of the stand. The two columns are marked with both a time and distance (which could be individually calibrated) to show the equivalence of distance and the length of time the current was active. This is a primarily a timing device for periods of seconds and was first devised by Emil du Bois-Reymond. (Expanded caption Copyright 1998, Edward J. Haupt)
