telegraph key (American model)

(Telegraphentaster [amerikanisches Modell])
Description: This is a finger operated switch (like No. 135), characterized by a "gentle secure movement" that can be made more or less sensitive, through a spring and the distance to make contact, adjusted by screws. Because of the shape, the key is often called a "camelback" and was first used in the 1860s. (Expanded caption Copyright 1998, Edward J. Haupt)
