Electromagnetic falling-ball delay timer, similar to No. III

(Fallapparat wie No. III)
Description: This apparatus allows a ball to be released, by a solenoid, from a variable height. The ball hits a plate and closes an electrical contact. The height of the ball determines the time delay between the release of the ball and the contact closure. This version of the apparatus has the special features that the pincers which hold the ball are opened by a solenoid and can be opened remotely and also by a lever. The exact time of opening can also be registered by means of a platinum contact. (Expanded caption Copyright 1998, Edward J. Haupt)
