(This apparatus was used for the presentation of verbal stimuli
at variable rates. A Metronome with Mercury Switch contacts and a
hand-operated telegraph key is used for timing the stimulus
presentations by energizing the alternating solenoids which step
the circular disk. The words at a particular location on the disk
show a line through a slot. Since the cardboard disks are not
easy to prepare, it was not widely used, even though it has
important advantages over Müller's device, such as ease of
use.)
